A More Fitting Reality

November05

I came to a large velvet door,
studded with the light of stars.
The door easily swung open,
and I passed through it
as I was met with the sweet
smell of honey, engulfing the air.
Rolling green clouds formed
the ground I walked on, rippling
swirls of soft pink with each step.
Above my head the melodic sound
of chirping sang out, as fish
swam around in a floating and twisting
stream of red water.
The water contorted and danced
through the branches of fat
blue trees. Fish leaped in and out
of the sanguine river, their scales
shining in the silver sunlight.
The light was cool and calming,
and the shade provided the warmth
of a hand-quilted blanket.
I laid down beneath a welcoming tree,
the soft ground rising to form my pillow.
The river wrapped around my tree,
protecting me,
while the majestic fish sang
a sweet lullaby.
As I began to drift, a mouse
with a checkered black and white tail
approached me and sat by my hand.
It stroked my skin softly,
welcoming me home.
